Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Colorado Mammoth captain Gavin Prout was named the March player of the month on Thursday by the National Lacrosse League.
Prout, a four-time NLL All-Star, won the award after tallying nine goals and 24 assists in five games last month. The Whitby, Ontario, native led the Mammoth to a 3-2 record in March and led the NLL with 33 points. His 52 assists so far this season rank second in the NLL and he is fourth in overall scoring with 76 points.
"Gavin has been our leader all year," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. "He is consistently the best player on the floor and he plays with the passion and skill that is indicative of a great captain."
Prout, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NLL entry draft, set a career-high with 91 points in 2004, his first season with the Mammoth. He became first team captain other than Gary Gait when he was chosen by his teammates prior to the start of this season.
