Wings Push Towards National Lacrosse League Playoffs

The Philadelphia Wings will try to secure their first playoff bid since 2002 with a win over the Toronto Rock this Saturday, April 8 at Air Canada Centre at 7:30 p.m. The Wings (7-6) have split their two games with the Rock (7-7) this season with Toronto winning the first game in overtime 12-11 at the Air Canada Centre on February 24 and the Wings winning the second game 14-12 on March 4 at the Wachovia Center.

"We definitely don't want to let someone else control our own playoff destiny," said Wings General Manager and Head Coach Lindsay Sanderson. "Every team in our division is in the same boat right now, but we want to take care of our own situation and not depend on the outcome of other games. That's a big part of the way our team is approaching things."

Rochester, Minnesota, Toronto, and Philadelphia are all fighting for the last three playoff spots in the East Division. First-place Buffalo (9-4) is the only Eastern team to clinch a playoff spot so far. The battle in the East is shaping up to be the tightest divisional race in league history. The remaining four teams are separated by only a half game and each club has a chance to reach the playoffs this weekend.

In addition to the game against Toronto this weekend, the Wings have two remaining regular season games against the Buffalo Bandits on Friday, April 14 at HSBC Arena and Saturday, April 15 at the Wachovia Center.
