Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced that the team's 2006-07 marketing campaign "Proud To Be A Royal" received the league's Marketing Campaign of the Year Award. The season-long PTBAR campaign focused upon providing everyone associated with the organization-fans, sponsors, management, staff and players-an opportunity to show the world why we are all "Proud to Be A Royal". The Stockton Thunder was also recognized for their "FANtastic" marketing campaign last season.
Branded with a logo designed by Joe Bosack, president and founder of The Joe Bosack Graphic Design Company, the PTBAR campaign kicked off in the summer of 2006 with a photo contest for fans. In that contest, fans were encouraged to submit their most memorable personalized Royals-related photograph to the organization. A panel of judges then selected the top photograph, which was submitted by Royals' fan Jeff Dean. That photograph was prominently displayed in the Season Ticket Booklet on the over-sized ticket used to gain admittance into the home opener on October 21, 2006 against the Trenton Titans. Jeff's photo was also used as the cover for the Royals' program booklet distributed at games during October of 2006. Photographs submitted by 39 other fans in the contest were displayed on individual game night tickets included in the Season Ticket Booklets.
Over the course of the season, the Royals incorporated the PTBAR theme and logo in virtually every giveaway, promotion and event in which the team was involved. For example, at the sold out home opener against Trenton-(the twenty-sixth sellout in the six year history of the team)-every fan in attendance received a PTBAR t-shirt courtesy of TH Properties. Throughout the season, giveaways displaying the PTBAR logo included a series of pilsner glasses, a special "sergeant's hat," car flags and beach towels. The logo was also prominently displayed on a huge banner attached to the exterior of the Sovereign Center, as well as in the ice surface inside the team's home arena. Over the course of the season, an entire line of specialized PTBAR merchandise was also offered to fans. The PTBAR theme was also central to several of the new developments in Royals' hockey last year, including the Reading Eagle Wall of Honor and the Deibler Dental In-Arena Broadcast.
Stockton's "FANtastic" campaign was a season-long tribute to the loyal and rapidly-growing fan base which allowed the Thunder to become the first team other than Florida to lead the league in attendance two years in a row since Louisiana from 1995-99. The team featured its fans in advertising and printed publications and on video board montages during games while emphasizing more frequent interaction between Thunder players and front office staff with the community.
The Royals' home opener is on Saturday, November 3, 2007, against the Cincinnati Cyclones. Royals' full Season Tickets and Total Choice Flex Plans are now on sale.
