Clearwater Threshers News Release

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Dunedin Blue Jays took down the Clearwater Threshers in game two of a four game series, 4-0, behind the arm of Ben White on Thursday night.

White (2-1) threw 7.2 shutout innings and allowed just three hits while walking three and striking out six.

Jon Prosinski (0-3) had another strong start for Clearwater, tossing seven innings and surrendering four runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking one.

While the Threshers (7-24) were only able to muster up three hits off of White, they did threaten with the bases loaded and less than two outs in both the second and third innings. A ground ball double-play and two strikeouts ended the threats.

The Blue Jays (25-8) got on the board first in the top of the fourth inning when Matt Newman launched his first homerun of the season over the right field wall to give Dunedin a 1-0 lead.

Dunedin scored a single run in each of the next three innings to jump to the 4-0 advantage.

The Threshers were without a baserunner for 4.1 innings until White walked Pete Lavin with one out in the eighth. The inning ended on a fielder's choice after Wil Browning entered in relief.

Clearwater will head over to Florida Auto Exhange Stadium on Friday night to take on Dunedin in game three of the four game series. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. Luis Paulino will make his first start for the Threshers while Jesse Hernandez goes for Dunedin. Pregame coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. on threshersbaseball.com.
