Ottawa Lynx News Release
OTTAWA - The biggest anniversary party in Ottawa this year will be taking place at Lynx Stadium and the Lynx announced some of fun and games today.
It all leads off with Opening Day, April 17th. The first 5,000 fans will receive a 15th Anniversary magnet schedule courtesy of Leduc Bus Lines. Come see who wins the Lynx Make Your Pitch contest and throws out the ceremonial first pitch of the 2007 season! The Robert Farrell Band will perform on the Stadium concourse and it's the first chance to enter the September Call-Up contest with a grand prize of a trip to Philadelphia and tickets for a September Phillies game.
Kids Opening Day is Sunday, April 22nd. In addition to some great entertainment, the day will be highlighted by a visit by the legendary Philly Phanatic. The Phanatic's costume was welcomed into the National Baseball Hall of Fame's permanent collections in 2002.
The Lynx will have two special days, commemorating Canadian baseball history. Saturday, July 14th will see the Lynx 15th Anniversary Celebration. Come to Lynx Stadium as we honour the first 14 seasons of Lynx baseball. July 22nd is our Tribute to the Montreal Expos, brought to you by the National Capital Amateur Athletics Association, featuring an on-field ceremony honouring the organization and its influence on the sport in Canada. Both events will feature famous faces from the Lynx and Expos past.
The season will see a combination of old favourites and new classics. Harry Potter Night returns Friday, July 20th. Chapters will be on hand to sell copies of J.K. Rowling's final Potter adventure, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as soon as the book is released, at midnight. Fan favourite Halloween at the Ballpark is on Friday the 13th, July 13th. Come get candy from Lynx players!
May 4th is Superhero Night, coinciding with the release of Spiderman 3. Rainbow Cinemas will sponsor contests for movie passes for lucky Lynx fans. Lynx fans are encouraged to dress up as their favourite superhero.
There's a promotion going on almost every day at Lynx Stadiums this season. Every Sunday is Family Fun Day. Starting June 3rd.
Tuesdays are Uni-Toonie Tuesdays, where kids 14 and under get a ticket for $2 if they're wearing their uniform from a minor sport.
Wednesdays are $2 Concession Wednesdays, sponsored by The Ottawa Citizen. Select concessions items will cost only $2 starting May 16th.
Thursday is Pathway Hyundai Jr. Lynx Day where members of the Pathway Hyundai Jr. Lynx Club get in for free!
