Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C. - It's official: The ECHL is returning to Greenville - and a new team will be ready to hit the ice at the BI-LO Center for the upcoming 2010-2011 minor league hockey season.
Today Hockey Greenville team owners, Neil Smith and Steve Posner, along with members of the Greenville Arena District Board, signed a lease agreement for the team to play in the BI-LO Center for the next 10 years, with 36 home games planned per season.
All business and hockey operations will take place at the BI-LO Center's administrative offices.
"In addition to bringing hockey back to Greenville, these games represent a new option in affordable, family fun entertainment for residents, visitors and hockey fans alike," said Smith. "We certainly look forward to becoming part of the fabric of this wonderfully exciting, visionary city and region."
Season ticket deposits of $100 per seat are now being taken. Fans are encouraged to visit www.hockeygreenville.com, call 864-250-4868, or stop by the BI-LO Box Office, Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A season ticket deposit guarantees an individual's name will be entered into the Hockey Greenville Season Ticket Lottery Draft. On Monday, May 10, all fans who have placed a deposit for season tickets will be invited to the Hockey Greenville Ticket Lottery Draft Party. Fans' names will be drawn lottery style, then given the opportunity to select their exact seat location.
Season ticket package prices range from $300, $415 and $540 and include all 36 home games and a substantial discount from individual game tickets, which are $9, $13 and $17. For children (ages 14 and under), senior citizens (ages 62 and older) and those who show their military identification, tickets are $9, $11 and $15, respectively.
The team, which relocated from Johnstown, Pa., will receive a new name, mascot and team colors in the coming weeks with help from the Greenville community.
