Forney, Galivan Head To AHL Chicago

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced Tuesday that forward Patrick Galivan has been recalled by the Gladiators' American Hockey League affiliate Chicago Wolves. In addition, the Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned forward Michael Forney to the Wolves. Forney makes his third trip to the AHL this season, while Galivan returns to Chicago for the fourth time.

Forney, a 21-year-old rookie, was selected in the third round with the 80th overall pick by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a multiple-year contract with the Thrashers in July of 2009 and was assigned to Gwinnett. In 63 outings with the Gladiators this season, the Thief River Falls, Minnesota native recorded 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points while serving 66 penalty minutes. Prior to skating with the Gladiators, Forney spent two seasons each in the United States Hockey League and with the NCAA's University of North Dakota. He was scoreless in three games with the Wolves this season.

Galivan, a rookie out of Western Michigan University, recorded 20 goals and 22 assists in 46 games with the Gladiators this season to finish second in the goals column, fifth in points, and second among Gwinnett rookies scorers. The 24-year-old Oak Park, Illinois native also appeared in 19 contests with the Wolves, notching two goals and four assists for six points and two penalty minutes. While at Western Michigan University, Galivan rang up 35 goals and 60 assists for 95 points in 122 total games.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
