Orange County Flyers News Release

The Orange County Flyers swept a doubleheader against the Tijuana Cimarrones on Wednesday, shutting them out, 8-0 in Game 1 and using a walk-off walk for a comeback win, 3-2, in Game 2. In the first game, Cha-Seung Baek earned his first win with OC, pitching four scoreless inning and recording four strikeouts. Sergio Pedroza tied a franchise record with three doubles and drove in three runs to lead the Orange County offense. Orange County's Jimmy Rohan recorded three hits, giving himself a league-leading 99 hits on the season, and scored two runs in the game.

In the second game of the twin bill, former NL All-Star Mark Prior struck out five straight batters to keep Orange County in striking distance of Tijuana's 2-0 lead. The Flyer tied the game in the sixth inning thanks to a Jimmy Rohan sac-fly and a Sergio Pedroza double set up by a two-error play by the Cimarrones that cost them a would-be double play. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Tyler Keeble drew a walk-off walk to complete the comeback. The Flyers played the second game as the home team, making up the home game originally scheduled for August 16 as part of this doubleheader.

Flyers starter Manny Ayala tries to become the first in the GBL to win 10 games in 2010 when he takes the mound today, Thursday, against the Tijuana Cimarrones in the third game of series of five games between these two teams at the Ray Kroc Baseball Complex in Yuma.

The Flyers return home on Saturday, August 14 for a doubleheader beginning at 5:05pm. Former NL All-Star Mark Prior is scheduled to pitch in Game 1 of the doubleheader, and KROQ 106.7 FM's Stryker will play for Orange County during the doubleheader as well.
