Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Prince Albert, SK - Team captain Tim Vanstone scored the game-winning goal to power the Prince Albert Raiders to a 3-1 win versus the Prince George Cougars on Wednesday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

In a match-up featuring Prince Albert's goaltending duo from last season, Rylan Parenteau got the better of his former partner Nick McBride. Traded to Prince George on November 4, McBride made a number of stunning saves on former teammates to keep his new club in the game. At the other end, Parenteau held the Cougars off the score sheet until the final eight minutes of the third period.

Reid Gardiner was the top performer for the Raiders with a goal and two assists for three points. Jordan Tkatch and Vanstone also recorded tallies.

The Cougars got their only goal of the night at the 14:00 mark of the third period when Chase Witala scored unassisted.

Parenteau finished the night with 26 saves on 27 shots, while McBride turned away 29 of 31 attempts.

The Raiders outshot the Cougars 32-27. Prince Albert went 0-for-4 on the power play, while Prince George was 0-for-2.

The Raiders notch at least a point for the third straight contest to improve their record to 28-17-5-1. The Cougars drop to 31-19-2-1.

The Raiders are back in action at the Art Hauser Centre on Friday, February 5 when they take on the Swift Current Broncos. Puck drop is 7:00 PM. For ticket information, visit raiderhockey.com or call 764-GAME.
