Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (45-32) relied on every member of the lineup on Wednesday night as seven different batters scored at least one run and seven different batters had at least one RBI in a 9-6 win over the Kane County Cougars (37-39) in front of 2,498 fans at Newman Outdoor Field. Correlle Prime (3-for-4, two doubles, walk, RBI) reached 1,000 career professional hits with a double in the fifth inning.

Fargo-Moorhead's offense was limited early on, as they scored only two runs through the first five innings of the game against Kane County ace Tyler Viza (5-2, 3.08 ERA). The RedHawks then poured it on, scoring four runs in the sixth inning, two in the seventh, and one more in the eighth to put the game out of reach. Dylan Kelly (3-for-4) and Jordan George (2-for-4, walk) each had a double, two RBIs, and a run scored in the win.

RedHawks' right-handed starter Jon Ludwig (1-0, 0.00 ERA) got his first professional win on Wednesday night after pitching five scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and a walk while striking out five batters. RHP Logan Nissen replaced Ludwig in the sixth inning and allowed three runs on four hits and two walks in 1.2 innings pitched. Right-handed pitchers Luke Lind and Michael Hope each pitched a third of an inning, with Hope allowing three runs on a hit and a walk. RHP Alex DuBord (3-1, 1.36 ERA) got his ninth save of the season as he pitched the final 1.2 innings in the game.

Despite being behind by six runs at one point, the Cougars lowered the deficit with back-to-back three-run innings in the seventh and eighth. Jeffrey Baez (1-for-4, walk, two runs scored) and Josh Allen (2-for-5, run, three RBIs) each hit a home run in the seventh inning to make it a 6-3 game. Nick Conti (3-for-5) and Jhon Nunez (2-for-3, run scored, RBI) were the only other Kane County batters with multiple hits in the game.

After locking down the RedHawks last week, Kane County's RHP Tyler Viza gave up a season-high six runs in defeat after allowing 10 hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Viza struck out four batters and walked three in the loss, his second of the season. RHP Eddie Medina relieved Viza in the sixth inning and gave up two runs on three hits while striking out a batter in 1.1 innings. RHP Ryley Widell and Andy McGuire combined to pitch the eighth inning. Widell gave up one run on two walks while McGuire gave up a hit and struck out a batter.

The RedHawks and Cougars will conclude their three-game series with a rubber match on Thursday night at 7:02 p.m. in Fargo. Fargo-Moorhead's scheduled starter for the series finale is RHP Ryan Flores (6-2, 3.34 ERA) and Kane County is slated to start RHP Ben Allison (3-2, 4.74 ERA).
