Jackson Generals News Release
CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (APRIL 7, 2014) - Jackson Generals (3-2) right-hander Jordan Pries (1-0) impressed in his Double-A debut, earning a win his team's 4-0, 2-hit shutout victory over Chattanooga (2-3) Monday at AT&T Field.
Pries tossed six innings and allowed just one hit and no runs. The 24-year-old spent last season with Class-A+ High Desert and went 8-6 with a 5.13 ERA in 124.2 IP.
Nate Melendres provided the Generals with plenty of offense in Monday's victory. Melendres went 3-for-4, including a triple and a double - and was responsible for two RBIs.
The left-fielder also broke the Generals four-inning scoreless start with an RBI double in the fifth that scored Gabriel Noriega.
Jabari Blash scored in the sixth as Jack Marder reached on a one-out fielding error by center fielder Jeremy Hazelbacker. John Hicks capitalized with runners in scoring position with an RBI double prior to an RBI triple by Melendres.
The Generals' bullpen pitched well to secure Pries' win, allowing one hit in three combined innings of relief work.
