Pride Washed Out by Surf; 10-3

(Atlantic City, N.J., August 9, 2008) The Nashua Pride were downed by the Atlantic City Surf, 10-3, at Bernie Robbins Stadium on Saturday night.

Surf starting pitcher Brian Rodaway (9-6) was dominant, going eight innings, giving up three runs (two earned), on seven hits, three walks and eight strike outs. Reliever Walker Whitley dealt a scoreless ninth to close the game out for the Surf.

Atlantic City first baseman Eddie Kim led the Surf at the plate going 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBI. Shortstop Anthony Granato went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, third baseman Gil Zayas also belted a homer and went 2-for-4, while designated hitter Clyde Williams finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

Pride starter Isaac Burkett (3-3) suffered the loss lasting five and two-thirds innings, giving up seven runs, on eleven hits, two walks and four strike outs. Reliever Mike Joyce gave up a pair of runs, on two hit and two walks, without recording an out against four batters as the first man out of the bullpen. John Tesseyman and Greg Ford combined to pitch an inning and one-third of scoreless work to end the game for the Pride.

Nashua designated hitter Ismael Castro went 2-for-5 in the game with a double and a RBI, while first baseman Bryan Duplissie notched the other Pride RBI going 2-for-3.

The Pride and Surf will end their three game series on Sunday night, at 7:05pm, when Nashua sends Matt O'Brien (1-0) to the mound. Atlantic City will counter with J.C. Huguet (8-4).
