Pride complete weekend sweep with shutout of Storm

FLORENCE, SC -- The Florence Pride completed a three-game weekend sweep Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 shutout win in front of 2,817 fans at the Florence Civic Center.
Matt Underhill was outstanding between the pipes, turning aside all 42 shots he faced as Toledo outshot Florence 42-19, including 15-2 in the third period. After allowing two goals on the first three shots he faced Saturday night at South Carolina, Underhill has stopped 78 straight shots, and has a shutout streak of 113:17.
Tim Donnelly gave the Pride a 1-0 lead with 2:01 remaining in the first period. Allan Sirois won a face off back to Donnelly, whose shot rung off the goal post and went into the net. Sirois' assist extended his point streak to five games.
Florence doubled the lead at the 9:28 mark of the second. On a power play, the Pride had sustained pressure in the Toledo zone. Wes Goldie had his shot stopped by Doug Teskey, but Jeff Szwez was on the door step to gather in the rebound and put it into an open net for his 10th tally of the season.
The Pride return to action Wednesday night, traveling to Greensboro for a 7:00 face off with the Generals. Florence is home Friday and Saturday next weekend. Friday, the Columbus Cottonmouths are town on Parrothead Night. Barrie Cunningham, a Jimmy Buffett impersonator, will be on hand to perform a post-game concert. In addition, all fans who wear Parrothead attire will receive a free ticket to a future Pride home game. ON Saturday, the Pride host the Columbia Inferno.
