(Quebec, QU, June 6, 2008) The Quebec Capitales took game one of a three game series with the Nashua Pride, 9-2, at Stade Municipal, behind shortstop Alex Nunez's three run home run off of Pride starter Reid Willett in the bottom of the second inning.

Nunez's three run shot was all the Capitales would need, as Quebec held the Pride to just four hits in the game. Right-hander Luis Valdez improved to 3-0 on the season, going five and two-thirds innings, giving up a pair of runs, on four hits, three walks and four strike outs.

Quebec also received a solid effort from first baseman Eddie Lantigua, whose pair of doubles, accounting for three RBI, late in the game gave the Capitales a comfortable lead for the bullpen to work with.

Nashua scored both of their runs in the top of the sixth inning. Shortstop Sammy Rosario crossed the plate from third base on a passed ball with the bases loaded, and catcher Luis Rodriguez drove in his team leading tenth RBI of the season with a sacrifice fly.

Nashua play game two of the series with Quebec on Saturday night, at 7:05pm, when right-hander Bucky Kosyk (0-2) takes the mound for the Pride. Southpaw Kevin Beavers (0-2) will start for Quebec.

The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, entering its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions will be participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
