Time: 2:52 Attendance: 2,496 W: Jim Wladyka (1-1) L: Rolando Viera (1-2) S: Derek Duclos (1) HR: AC-Lucas Taylor (2) A solid pitching performance by Atlantic City starter Jim Wladyka leads the Surf to victory over the Brockton Rox. Wladyka hurled 5 1/3 innings allowing four hits and striking out two to earn his first win of the season. Brockton would score their only run of the game in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by 3B Phillip Cuadrado. The Surf plated two runs in the third inning on a RBI groundout by 1B Joe Burke and a RBI single by LF Clyde Williams. Atlantic City added their other run on a solo home run by CF Lucas Taylor in the fifth inning. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quebec 9, Nashua 2 @ Quebec City, QC. Time: 2:44 Attendance: 2,853 W: Luis Valdez (3-0) L: Reid Willett (0-3) S: None HR: QC-Alex Nunez (1) The Quebec Capitales rolled out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and would cruise from there to rout the Nashua Pride. The win by the Capitales in their fifth straight and keep them atop the Can-Am League standings. Capitales 1B Eddie Lantigua went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI while SS Alex Nunez had a 1-for-4 night including a three-run home run. Luis Valdez notched the win for the Capitales going 5 2/3 innings allowing no earned runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts. He is now 3-0 on the year. LF Vinny Pennell had a 1-for-4 night with a run scored for Nashua. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Worcester 4, Ottawa 2 @ Ottawa, ON. Time: 2:37 Attendance: 1,152 W: Matt Weagle (4-0) L: Fraser Robinson (0-1) S: John Birtwell (2) HR: None Worcester Tornadoes starting pitcher Matt Weagle hurled another superb performance in leading the Tornadoes to victory over the Ottawa Rapidz. Weagle went seven strong innings giving up two earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts. He remains perfect on the season at 4-0. The Tornadoes were led at the plate by LF Scott Grimes who went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI. SS Felix Escalona and DH Sambu Ndungidi each 2-for-3 outings at the dish for Ottawa in the losing cause. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sussex 5, New Jersey 4 @ Augusta, NJ. Time: 2:27 Attendance: 1,847 W: Gary Galvez (2-2) L: Brandon Martin (1-1) S: Matt Petrusek (5) HR: NJ-Chris Kelly (1); SX-Kevin Rios (3) DH Walter Young's RBI groundout in the eighth inning plated the go ahead run and helped the Sussex Skyhawks to their fourth straight win by beating the New Jersey Jackals 5-4. Sussex starter Gary Galvez went eight innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits with three walks and eight strikeouts to get the win. He evened his record up at 2-2. Rios went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI to lead the Skyhawks at the plate. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
