Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride and the South Carolina Education Lottery are joining forces to allow lottery players the opportunity to win prize packs with non-winning lottery tickets. This promotion will run for the remainder of the Pride's 2002-2003 season. The South Carolina Education Lottery promotes responsible gaming and efforts to keep South Carolina beautiful by disposing of non-winning tickets.

At each of the Pride's remaining home games this season, fans can drop their non-winning South Carolina Education Lottery tickets at the Customer Service Table, located behind section 307. One name will be drawn at each game to receive a prize pack from the Pride and the Education Lottery. The prize packs will include t-shirts, hats, tickets, koozies, umbrellas, etc.

From the start of lottery ticket sales on January 7, 2002 through the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2002, the South Carolina Education Lottery generated over 80 million dollars for education, thereby enhancing the educational opportunities for thousands of South Carolina residents. The South Carolina legislative body allocated an additional $172 million for fiscal year 2002-2003.

Lottery funds are appropriated for programs other than higher-education scholarships. These programs include purchasing new school buses, endowing chairs, aiding South Carolina's libraries and improving the performance of students in kindergarten through fifth grade. For more lottery beneficiary information, visit the lottery website at www.sceducationlottery.com.

The promotion will start on Thursday, February 13th, when the Pride host the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for that game, and all remaining Pride home games, are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
