Preview: Sporting KC II Hosts FC Tulsa on Wednesday

Under the guidance of fourth-year head coach and former Sporting Kansas City midfielder Paulo Nagamura, Sporting KC II (0-3-3, 3 points) will play for their second straight result on Wednesday when they host Central Division rivals FC Tulsa (3-1-0, 9 points) at Children's Mercy Park.

Wednesday's matchup will kick off at 7 p.m. CT and stream live on ESPN Plus. Sporting KC II home matches at Children's Mercy Park will be closed to the public until further notice.

The midweek tilt will serve as the second of four meetings between Sporting KC II and FC Tulsa in 2021. On May 1, Tulsa claimed its first win in the series by prevailing 2-0 with early goals from Rodrigo Da Costa and Dario Suarez at ONEOK Field. The sides are slated to lock horns again on June 16 in Tulsa and on Sept. 24 in Kansas City. SKC II owns a 7-1-1 record in the series, which dates back to the club's inaugural season in 2016.

SKC II features a youthful squad consisting of emerging professionals under USL Championship contract, Sporting KC Academy products on amateur contracts and MLS loanees from the Sporting KC first team. Homegrown Player Tyler Freeman and forward Dominik Resetar have provided the club's two goals in the early stages of 2021, while Sporting KC goalkeeper John Pulskamp posted the team's first shutout in Sunday's scoreless home draw against El Paso Locomotive FC.

FC Tulsa kicked off the 2021 campaign with three successive wins before suffering a 5-0 setback at Atlanta United 2 in their most recent outing on May 19.
