
Oakland Roots Sign Luis Barraza on Loan from New York City FC

Oakland, CA - Oakland Roots have signed Goalkeeper Luis Barraza on loan from NYCFC for USL Championship games against Sacramento Republic FC and Orange County SC on June 2nd and June 12th, respectively. The Las Cruces, New Mexico born keeper Barraza was selected as the 12th overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by New York City, then signed a professional contract with the club on January 28, 2019.
"We are excited to welcome Luis to Oakland," said Roots VP of Soccer Eric Yamamoto. "Luis is a very talented goalkeeper with tremendous upside that we are looking forward to having him join the Oakland Roots and to continue to develop while he is with us."
Barraza made his professional debut vs Tigres in the CONCACAF Champions League this April, but has yet to make his MLS debut with NYCFC. Please join us in welcoming Luis to Oakland.
