Preview: Spirit Hold Trunk Or Treat Before Game against Colts Friday

Saginaw, MI. - The Saginaw Spirit (9-6-1-0, 19 pts.) hosts the Eastern Conference's Barrie Colts (8-5-0-1, 17 pts.) at the Wendler Arena inside The Dow Event Center Friday, November 1 for Trunk or Treat Night.  Puck drop for the first of two meetings this season is at 7:05 p.m.

Kids and Adults are encouraged to wear their Halloween costume to the game and trick or treat in the Budweiser Red Room beginning at 5:30 p.m.  The Saginaw Spirit are selling $6 Covenant kid tickets for the game against the Colts.

The road team was victorious in both meetings last year between the Spirit and Colts to split the season series.  Saginaw defeated Barrie, 6-3 last match-up back on February 21 last season. Florida Panthers prospect Owen Tippett led the way for the Spirit that night, assisting on two Cole Perfetti goals, and scoring what many considered, the best goal of the 2018-19 season.

The Spirit are coming off a 5-4 victory over the West Division rival Soo Greyhounds Sunday evening.

Philadelphia Flyers draft choice Mason Millman scored twice including the game winner with 2:33 left in regulation in the victory over the Soo.  The Saginaw defenseman ranks seventh among OHL defenseman with five goals this season.

Grand Blanc, Michigan native Dalton Duhart made his Saginaw Spirit debut in Sunday's victory over the Soo Greyhounds.  The 18-year old Duhart was acquired via trade with the Barrie Colts along with five draft choices for forward Nicholas Porco and defenseman Ian Lemieux.

Duhart is the son of long-time Flint Generals forward Jim Duhart, who ranks fourth all-time on the Generals with 478 points.

Saginaw Spirit captain Damien Giroux has been added to the 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series.  The Minnesota Wild fifth round pick joins teammate Cole Perfetti on Team OHL's roster and will compete in Game Three of the series on Thursday, November 7 in Kitchener, Ontario.

The Hanmer, Ontario native Giroux leads the Spirit this season with 12 goals in just 16 games played.

2020 top-NHL Draft prospect Perfetti is currently fourth in the Ontario Hockey League with 27 points this season.  The Spirit forward scored two goals last time the Spirit played the Colts.

New York Islanders prospect Cole Coskey contributed two assists in the 5-4 victory over the Greyhounds.  The right-winger, along with teammate Giroux, leads the OHL with six powerplay goals this season.

Overage defenseman Reilly Webb also collected two helpers in the win over the Greyhounds Sunday evening.  The former Detroit Red Wings draft pick has five points in the last five games for the Saginaw Spirit.

Barrie is coming off a 5-4 road defeat to the Hamilton Bulldogs Wednesday night, despite going two-for-five with the man-power advantage.

2020 NHL Draft prospect Tyson Foerster contributed two goals in the losing effort.  The second year forward leads the Colts in goals (13) and points (23) this season.

2019 Carolina Hurricanes first round pick Ryan Suzuki has points in the last seven games for the Barrie Colts.  The London, Ontario native has three goals and 13 assists for 16 points in just 12 games this season.  Suzuki is the younger brother of Montreal Canadiens forward Nick Suzuki.

Buffalo Sabres prospect Matej Pekar has points in seven of the last eight games for Barrie.  The Czech forward is tied with Foerster for the team leading 13 goals this season.

Former Saginaw Spirit Nicholas Porco and Ian Lemieux returns to The Dow for the first time since being traded on October 26.  Porco, a Dallas Stars prospect, scored 29 goals and 28 assists for 57 points in 138 career games with the Saginaw Spirit.

The Barrie Colts have six players on their roster with rights owned by NHL teams, forwards Matej Pekar (Buffalo Sabres), Ryan Suzuki (Carolina Hurricanes), Nicholas Porco (Dallas Stars), defensemen Tyler Tucker (St. Louis Blues), Mathew Hill (Anaheim Ducks), and goaltender Arturs Silovs (Vancouver Canucks).

The Spirit have five players on their roster who have been drafted by NHL teams.  Forwards Blade Jenkins (New York Islanders), Cole Coskey (New York Islanders), Damien Giroux (Minnesota Wild), and defenseman Mason Millman (Dallas Stars) have all returned to the Saginaw Spirit roster.  Defenseman Bode Wilde remains with New York Islanders' AHL affiliate the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
