Last Time Out

Louisville City FC earned the first three points of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Nashville SC, 2-0, in the 2018 season opener.

The hosts eventually broke a deadlock that spanned through the halftime break with a goal in the 56th minute. Taking a cross from midfielder Niall McCabe, who earned Man of the Match for his work, Spencer buried the chance and LouCity went one-up. Ten minutes later, the "Boys in Purple" went up two thanks to McCabe, who put home a rolled cross from defender Oscar Jimenez.

The Nashville attack would test LouCity "keeper Greg Ranjitsingh a couple times more before the end of the match, but the Trinidad & Tobago nationalist would smother everything in front of his net to preserve his clean sheet and help hand his side their first three points of the year.

From the Gaffer

On scouting NCFC:

"It's very difficult to actually get film. We'll have the one where they played Tampa, but other than that I think that's it. A lot of turnover in their squad as well, so it presents a number of challenges for us as well in trying to figure out what they may or may not do. Again, we'll be spending the week trying to figure out what they're trying to do but also have our guys focus on what we need them to do. I think it's always dual-ended. You want to have an idea of what the opposition is trying to do and try and get that level of performance from our own guys."

On NCFC coach Colin Clarke:

"I met him very briefly at the league meetings. We've never actually played against each other because they've been in the NASL, but Austin Da Luz I've actually played with at Orlando. Great guy, great character, so it'll be nice to see him. I haven't seen Austin in a few years so I'll be looking forward to seeing him."

On the team's goal this weekend:

"The biggest thing for us is making sure we have a good training week. I was pleased with training last week and it's very important for us that we get a good week in, so hopefully we can get that."

On injury updates:

"So far, so good. Got a couple of niggles from Saturday and [head athletic trainer] Scott [Ritter] is looking at that so I think we should be okay."
