Phoenix Rising FC News Release
PHOENIX, AZ - Phoenix Rising Football Club (0-0-1) is set for its home opener on Saturday against OKC Energy FC (1-0-0). The match will kickoff at 7 p.m. with gates opening for the fans at 6:00 p.m. The first 3,000 fans will receive an Equality Health schedule magnet.
"I want our fans to push us," said Phoenix Rising head coach Patrice Carteron. "OKC is a very good team so we need everyone to help us get those three points on Saturday. "
Added goalkeeper Carl Woszczynski: "It's great to have the supporters behind your back. You want to get a result for them because ultimately they're here supporting us and we want to give back to them."
This will be the 10th meeting between the clubs with OKC having a slight 4-3-2 edge in the series. Last season the clubs split their season series with each team winning at home. In Phoenix Rising FC's win on May 13, 2016, Shaun Wright-Phillips scored the game-winning goal with the last kick of the match in extra time.
Phoenix Rising opened the 2018 season at Orange County last weekend with a 1-1 draw. USL Team of the Week Honorable mention Solomon Asante scored the club's lone goal, just 11 minutes into the season. It was the fastest first goal of the season in club history.
OKC Energy FC comes off a 1-0 win against its rival Tulsa Roughnecks FC. FC Dallas loanee Francis Atuahene scored the match's lone goal.
Fans who cannot attend the match can watch it on YurView Arizona, Cox channels 4&1004 (Phoenix) and 7&1007 (Tucson) or online at PHXRisingFC.com. Fans can also listen to a Spanish broadcast of the match on El Patron 93.7 FM & 1230 AM.
