Preview: Firebirds Welcome Sarnia for School Day Game

Flint, Mich. - The Firebirds play host to West Division rival Sarnia Sting this Wednesday morning for the club's second-annual "School Day Game." Puck drop is set for 11 a.m. (ET) at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center.

Wednesday's contest marks the fourth of eight meetings between the two clubs this season, and the second of four in Flint. Most recently, the Firebirds earned their first point of the season in a 6-5 overtime defeat to Sarnia on home-ice on Oct. 27. Ty Dellandrea (Dallas Stars), Ethan Keppen and Connor Roberts recorded multi-point games and netminder Luke Cavallin made 38 saves on 43 shots.

All-time, Flint holds a 13-13-1-0 record against the Sting and a 7-5-1-0 record on home ice in the series.

Most recently, the Ottawa 67's earned a 7-4 victory over Flint on Saturday, Nov. 3. Sarnia has earned three victories in their past five games but fell to Windsor on the road Saturday 5-2.

On special teams, Sarnia has the 17th-best power-play in the 20-team OHL, converting on 12.1% of their chances. Flint is operating at 7.1% while on the man-advantage. While shorthanded, Sarnia ranks 13th, successfully killing 79.7% of their penalties while the Firebirds are 20th at 66.7%.
