Preview: Fighters vs. Gladiators

FRISCO, TX - Coming off four straight wins, the Frisco Fighters will host the Duke City Gladiators at Comerica Center in Frisco Saturday night. This contest will be the second meetup of the season between these two teams. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 PM.

The Duke City Gladiators have a record of 2-3 thus far in the season. Their trip to Frisco marks only their second road game of 2022.

Past meetups - Fighters vs Gladiators

The Fighters and Gladiators first met on March 26 this season. After shutting them out in the first (12-0) and second (18-0) quarter, the Fighters were triumphant over the Gladiators - resulting in their first victory of the 2022 season (60-33).

The Fighters matched up against the Gladiators twice in the 2021 season which resulted in two wins for the Fighters. Frisco is 3-0 against Duke City.

Players to watch

For the first time this season, quarterback Blake Sims played the duration of week six's game against the Steamwheelers. Sims passed for a total of 101 yards from nine (14 attempt) passes. These passes resulted in two touchdowns while Sims ran in the third.

Running back Justin Rankin continues to prove he is a fighting force week after week. Rankin rushed for a total of 72 yards, tallying two touchdowns. After six weeks in the 2022 season, Rankin still holds the No.1 spot for rusher in the Indoor Football League with 332 yards - almost double the yardage of the player preceding him.

Wide Receiver Spencer Tears made his debut with the Fighters in week six vs. the Steamwheelers. Tears put up 41 receiving yards, resulting in one touchdown. Receivers were able to accumulate 101 yards against the Steamwheelers.

Defensive backs Cameron Hilton and Britto Tutt both had interceptions against the Steamwheelers. Poole had eight tackles (six solo) with one breakup pass while Hilton had three tackles (two solo). With the help of other defensive players, they were able to keep the Quad City Steamwheelers receiving yardage to 59 yards.

The Fighters never trailed in last week's matchup in Moline, Illinois. The game vs. Quad City marks the second time this season that Frisco has set a new standard for its largest single-game output (68 points).
