Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona Wranglers are prepared to face the Tucson Sugar Skulls, this weekend, at the "Boneyard," in Tucson, Ariz.!
On Saturday evening, the Wranglers will square up against the Sugar Skulls, at Tucson Arena, and will be aiming for their fourth consecutive victory. The Wranglers have not played on the road since their season opener against the Vegas Knight Hawks.
The start of the 2022 Indoor Football League season has been quite the opposite when comparing the Wranglers and Sugar Skulls. The Wranglers fell to the Knight Hawks in their first game of the season, and followed that up with three straight victories. The Wranglers enter their matchup against the Sugar Skulls with a 3-1 record under head coach Les Moss.
On the contrary, the Sugar Skulls won their first game of the season, ironically, against the Knight Hawks. Since that victory, Tucson has lost three games in a row. The Sugar Skulls enter the matchup with a 1-3 record under head coach Dixie Wooten.
It's key for the Wranglers defense to shut down the Sugar Skulls offense to win the game. Sugar Skulls quarterback Daquan Neal has both the second most passing yards, and the second most passing touchdowns in the IFL. Sugar Skulls running back Mike Jones is also tied for the most rushing touchdowns in the league, with eight, in just four games.
The Sugar Skulls offense will pose a great challenge for the Wranglers defense, who have been dominant thus far in 2022. The Wranglers defensive unit is ranked No. 1 in the IFL with the fewest yards allowed per game.
