What to Watch For:

A Early Look at Available Talent

It has been announced that Central Illinois Flying Aces will go dormant for the 2019-20 season. As such their players that return to the USHL next year will be given the opportunity to join new teams in a Dispersal Draft taking place this off-season. This weekend the Stars will have the opportunity to receive a first-hand account of the many talented players on the Central Illinois roster that could join the Stars in this summer.

"It's a new chance somewhere else, it's a chance to prove themselves," said Stars head coach Cody Chupp. "We tell young kids all the time, 'if you're good enough to play in the league, you'll play in the league.' They have a lot of good players there that are going to be just fine and are going to find a new home. Obviously no kid likes to be traded or dealt in the Dispersal Draft, change is sometimes difficult, but I think they'll have quite a few good players that'll come out of that Dispersal Draft that will help teams around the league. Every team around the league is watching them, us being one. It's important to us to get the right person or people in that Dispersal Draft-guys that are good fits for our locker room a good fit for our culture and ultimately make us better."

Phil Lapointe Returns:

The former Stars forward will return to the Ice Box as an opponent for the first time in his USHL career. Since his trade in November, Lapointe has made himself a go-to point producer for the Flying Aces. In 37 games since joining Central Illinois, the Michigan commitment has eight goals and 19 assists, with half his tallies coming on the power play. Entering play against his former team tonight, Lapointe is coming off his third, three-point performance of the season in which he totaled a goal and two assists against Dubuque.

A Meeting with Plenty at Stake:Despite neither team qualifying for the playoffs, both sides have plenty to play for as the regular season winds to a close. The word audition is used by the Stars coaching staff often when describing the importance of each game through the end of the season. That's two-fold with the aforementioned Dispersal Draft and its significance to the Flying Aces, the only opponent left that the Stars have yet to face this season.

"They're going to be hungry," said Chupp. "Quitting isn't an option. They're fighting for their draft stock and their future-we have a bunch of guys that are in the same boat. They're fighting for their future as a part of the Lincoln Stars, there's guys in Central Illinois fighting for their future in the league, whether they end up in this league, the North American League, or some other junior league. They should be really hungry to prove themselves and prove that they're going to take someone's job away. That'll be the message to our group that this is a team that wants your job next year and ultimately we have to approach it just the same."
