Predators Sign Five Players

Nashville, TN-TheNashville Predators, NHL affiliate of the Milwaukee Admirals, announced today that the club has re-signed restricted free-agent forward Brandon Segal (SEE-guhl). In addition, the Predators have signed the following unrestricted free-agents: center Shane Endicott (EHN-dih-kawt), goaltender Karl Goehring (GAIR-ihng), forward Pat Leahy (LAY-hee) and defenseman Nolan Yonkman (YAWNK-man).
Segal, 23 (7/12/83), posted career-highs last season in goals (18), assists (15), points (33) and penalty minutes (126) with the Admirals. The 6-3, 215-pound Richmond, B.C. native also contributed three points (1g-2a) in 21 playoff games, helping the Admirals reach the Calder Cup Finals for the second time in three seasons. Segal was originally Nashville's second choice, 102nd overall (fourth round), in the 2002 Entry Draft.
Endicott, 24 (12/21/81), set NHL career-highs in games played (41), points (1g-1a-2pts) and penalty minutes (43) with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2005-06. The 6-3, 215-pound centerman was originally Pittsburgh's second selection, 52nd overall (second round) in the 2000 Entry Draft. The Saskatoon, Sask. native has appeared in 45 career NHL games with Pittsburgh.
Goehring, 27 (8/23/78), split time in 2005-06 between San Antonio of the AHL and Jokerit Helsinki of the Finnish Elite League, appearing in 42 total games. Prior to this past season, the Apple Valley, Minn. native played four seasons with Syracuse of the AHL, where he averaged 38 starts per year and posted at least 17 victories in three straight seasons. An undrafted free agent, Goehring spent four years at the University of North Dakota where he won a national championship in 2000.
Leahy, 27 (6/9/79), posted NHL career-highs in games played (43), goals (4), assists (4) and points (8) in 2005-06 with the Boston Bruins. The 6-3, 210-pound right wing, originally the New York Rangers' fifth selection, 122nd overall (fifth round), in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, has appeared in 49 career NHL games with the Bruins. The Brighton, Mass. native played the 2001-02 season with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL, coached by current Predators assistant coach Peter Horachek.
Yonkman, 25 (4/1/81), has spent the past five seasons with the Washington organization after being selected 37th overall (second round) by the Capitals in the 1999 Entry Draft. The 6-6, 236-pound blueliner notched seven assists and 86 penalty minutes in 38 games for the Capitals this past season. The Punnichy, Sask. native has played 50 career NHL games, posting eight points (1g-7a) and 90 penalty minutes.
