The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have named Joe Ferras Assistant Coach.
Ferras most recently spent five seasons as head coach of the Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League.
The 40-year-old Brantford, Ontario native won the 1987 Division III NCAA championship with new Sound Tigers Head Coach Dan Marshall at SUNY Plattsburgh. Ferras, Plattsburgh's all-time leading scorer, had his uniform No. 77 retired two years ago.
"He knows how to be a part of a first class organization and is a champion," Marshall said.
During his professional playing career, Ferras played for Adirondack and Halifax of the American Hockey League. He also played 10 seasons in Europe.
