Orlando Predators News Release

ORLANDO, Fla. (June 27) - The Arena Football League announced its All-Rookie Team on Wednesday and two Orlando Predators players were placed on the 17-man team. Named to the squad were linebacker LANCE MITCHELL and defensive back RAYSHUN REED.

Mitchell started 15 of 16 games for the Predators at "mack" linebacker. His stats included 18.5 tackles, including 3.5 tackles-for-loss and a pair of quarterback sacks.

Reed had an outstanding rookie season in the AFL after being named All-NFL Europe last year. He started all 16 games at corner; recording six interceptions to go with 72 tackles and 11 pass defenses. In addition, Reed tied for third in the Arena Football League by forcing five fumbles. He also recovered four fumbles to rank in the top 10 the final league statistics.

"It's not an easy transition to make from playing defensive back in the outdoor game and coming to Arena Football," Predators Head Coach JAY GRUDEN said. "Rayshun improved every week and be the end of the season ended up being our best defensive back. I believe he has a chance to be a great player in the Arena Football League."

Philadelphia - who will host the Predators in an opening round playoff game - led all teams with three selections, including OL PHIL BOGLE, OL MARTIN BIBLA and DL BRYAN SAVE. San Jose and Orlando were the only other teams with multiple selections. Tampa Bay quarterback BRETT DIETZ was also named to the team.
