THE GAME:
The Colorado Crush begin their march to ArenaBowl XXI New Orleans when they travel to Kansas City to play divisional foe the Brigade on Saturday, June 30 at 1:00 p.m. MT. This will be the Crush's fourth straight postseason appearance and their first-ever in the Wild Card Round.
Colorado enters the game in the midst of a four-game losing skid. This is the longest losing streak in head coach Mike Dailey's four-year tenure with the Crush and is the club's longest since their inaugural season of 2003 when they had two four-game slides and a six-game losing streak. The Crush's current losing streak is also the longest of any of the 12 teams heading into the 2007 postseason. Not helping matters is the fact that Colorado is 0-5 this season in games broadcast on ESPN.
The Crush finished the regular season with an 8-8 record and secured the sixth seed in the American Conference. The .500 record marks the first time that a Dailey coached Crush team did not finished the regular season with at least 10+ wins.
Despite their recent troubles, Colorado can take a positive outlook into the postseason and against their first round opponent. The Crush swept the season series against the Brigade this year and are a perfect 3-0 all-time against K.C. The two victories against the Brigade this season were both highly competitive contests though with Colorado pulling out wins by only a combined seven points.
The Kansas City Brigade venture into their first-ever postseason appearance as one of the League's hottest teams. The Brigade have won six of their last eight games and claimed
the American Conference's third seed. Kansas City has also won their last three games at Kemper Arena with their last home loss coming on April 27th against the Crush.
Leading the Brigade is AFL All-Rookie Team selection WR Charles Frederick. In two games versus Colorado this year, he registered 20 receptions for 218 yards and three touchdowns, while adding six kickoff returns for 150 return yards.

HEAD COACHES:
MIKE DAILIEY, Colorado (107-72, 11th Year): Mike Dailey enters his fourth season in Colorado and 11th as head coach in the AFL, after becoming the Crush's second head coach on June 26, 2003. Dailey joined the Crush following 13 seasons in the Albany/Indiana Firebirds organization, including the final seven as head coach.
One of the most successful and well-respected coaches in AFL history, Dailey's teams have compiled an overall record of 107-72 record, a winning percentage of 59.8. His teams have also made eight postseason appearances and he has won five division titles and two championships. Following the Crush's 44-40 victory over Kansas City on March 10, 2007, Dailey became only the fourth head coach in AFL history to surpass the 100 win mark. He currently stands as the league fourth all-time winningest coach.
In his first season in Colorado, Dailey helped guide the Crush to the largest turnaround in AFL history, inheriting a 2-14 team and leading them to an 11-5 record in 2004. In 1999, Dailey led the Albany Firebirds to their only ArenaBowl championship and was named AFL Coach of the Year. Before being named head coach of the Firebirds in 1997, Dailey served as an assistant in Albany for five seasons.
Dailey began his AFL coaching career with the Washington Commandos where he served as offensive/defensive line coach in 1990. He joined the Firebirds organization in the same capacity in 1991.
Prior to the AFL, Dailey worked as an assistant coach at Towson State University and was the offensive coordinator at Montgomery College-Rockville (Md.). Dailey got his start in coaching in 1981 as a 22-year-old assistant at Georgetown Prep High School in Rockville, Md. The move to coaching followed a semi-pro football career in the Washington D.C. area.

LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET:
KANSAS CITY (4/27/07) - The Colorado Crush won their third straight game with a 45-42 road victory over the Kansas City Brigade Friday night. With the win, Colorado moves their overall record to 6-3 for the third time in the last four seasons and takes the season series from the Brigade.
Crush QB John Dutton threw five touchdowns on 25-of-46 passes for 270 yards to pace Colorado, while WR Brad Pyatt hauled in a career-high nine receptions for a game-high 120 yards and a score. Crush WR Damian Harrell also added three first half touchdowns, but played sparingly in the second half due to a toe sprain. For Kansas City, FB Dawan Moss rushed for three touchdowns on nine carries for 20 yards.
The first half was characterized with both teams trading scores and stops. Colorado was able to take a three-point 24-21 lead into the break following a 32-yard Jason Ball field goal.
Kansas City took their first lead of the game early in the third quarter when Moss broke in for a five-yard rushing score to put the Brigade up 28-24. The Crush responded scoring the contest's next 14 points on touchdowns by WR Alonzo Nix and DB Jason Harmon to build their biggest advantage of the game 38-28. Colorado's scores were set-up by the defense holding Kansas City on a four-and-out inside the five-yard line and an interception by LB Anthony Dunn.
Brigade WR Boo Williams would contribute with two four quarter touchdowns, the final one coming with 17 seconds left in the game, but it would prove to not be enough as the Crush hung on for the three-point win and control of second place in the Central Division.
CRUSH LAST WEEK:
DENVER (6/25/07) - The Colorado Crush closed out the regular season with a 58-77 loss to the Dallas Desperados Monday night in front of a sell-out crowd of 18,093 at Pepsi Center on ESPN2. The sell-out crowd was the first at Pepsi Center since the Crush's season opener on February 6, 2004.
With the victory, Dallas finishes the regular season with an AFL record 15-1 overall record and clinches the top seed in the National Conference. In defeat, Colorado falls for the fourth straight contest, their longest losing streak since their inaugural season of 2003. The Crush enter the playoffs as the American Conference's sixth seed and travel to Kansas City for a Wild Card Round game on Saturday, June 30th.
Dallas QB Clint Dolezel completed a game-high eight touchdown passes on 21-of-31 throws for 244 yards. Desperados WRs Dialleo Burks and Will Pettis each added three touchdown receptions on the night. For Colorado, WR Damian Harrell hauled in three scores on six catches with 107 yards. Crush back-up QB Brandon Kirsch contributed with two touchdown passes and two rushing TDs.
The Desperados jumped out to an early lead when already leading 7-3, Pettis returned a kickoff 40 yards for a touchdown and a 14-3 Desperados advantage. The ensuing kickoff would be recovered by Dallas as well and one-play later Dolezel hit Pettis for a 5-yard score to put their team up 21-3.
Colorado mounted a small comeback on back-to-back scoring drives on 25-yard and 20-yard touchdown passes to Willie Quinnie and Harrell respectively to cut the score to 21-17 early in the second period. Dallas responded by scoring three of the game's next four touchdowns with the final one coming as time expired in the half on a 7-yard strike to Pettis to give the Desperados a 42-23 lead at the break.
The Crush's first drive of the third quarter ended on a QB John Dutton fumble. Colorado would finish the game losing four fumbles on the night. Dolezel would amass three scoring passes in the third; two to Burks and one to Terrance Dotsy as Dallas took a 26-point lead, 63-37, into the fourth quarter.
Both teams traded scores throughout the final session. With 34 seconds remaining in the game, Kirsch would rush in from five-yards out for the game's final points as the Desperados finished in strong fashion with their record setting win.
THINGS TO WATCH:
JUST LIKE KYLE:
While teammate OL Kyle Moore-Brown continues his AFL record for consecutive games played, QB John Dutton has strung together an impressive streak of his own.
Since the 2004 season, Dutton along with San Jose QB Mark Grieb have started the most consecutive games under center in the AFL.

The Colorado defense has set a new club single-season record for interceptions with 20, which ranked tied-fifth in the AFL in that category. DB Rashad Floyd has hauled in nine picks, while DB Chris Angel has seven interceptions, which ranks tied third and tied-seventh in the AFL respectively (the team's individual single-season record is 10- Floyd in 2006).

BUILDING A WINNING TRADITION:
The Crush are among the winningest teams in the AFL regular season since head coach Mike Dailey's arrival, having tied for the league's best record in 2004 (11-5) and finishing with the American Conference's top seed in 2005 (10-6) and 2006 (11-5).
