PrairieThunder Prepares for the Playoffs

The Bloomington PrairieThunder's fifth, and finest, professional hockey season has come to an end with the team finishing in third place in the CHL's Turner Conference with a record of 37-22-7. And this coming weekend, Coach Jason Christie and his PrairieThunder will play in the team's first playoff games in franchise history. Bloomington hosts the Fort Wayne Komets in games #1 and #2 of the CHL's Turner Conference Quarterfinals at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in downtown Bloomington.

Turner Conference Quarterfinal Game #1

During the recently completed 2010-11 regular season, Bloomington won the ten game season series over Fort Wayne 7-2-1. At the U.S. Cellular Coliseum, the PrairieThunder went 3-1-1 against the Komets. In the ten game series, Jason Dale led all PrairieThunder in scoring with 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points. Jon Booras had 9 points on 3 goals & 6 assists. For the Komets, Tab Lardner tallied 9 points (5 goals & 4 assists) and Art Podshendyalov & Kaleigh Schrock each had 4 goals & 3 assists for 7 points. In the PrairieThunder goal, Marco Emond went 4-1-2 against Fort Wayne, posting a 2.22 goals against average and a 92.0% save percentage. Brad Phillips was 3-1 with a 3.08 goals against and an 89.5% save percentage.

Following Sunday's game, the series shifts to Fort Wayne for the Wednesday, April 6th third game of the series. In Fort Wayne, Bloomington posted a 4-1 record this year.

PrairieThunder Notes

Bloomington posted a record of 23-0-3 this year when leading after two periods.....The PThunder was 19-5-7 in one goal games.....Jason Dale ended up as the team's leading scorer despite missing three games while playing in the American Hockey League. Dale had 52 points in 63 games (17 goals & 35 assists). Dale's 35 assists along with 16 power assists also led the team.....Brett Holmberg led the team in goals with 23 and Jon Booras ended up with 20 lamp lighters.....Garrett Klotz led the squad in plus / minus with a +21 rating.....Travis Granbois was the penalty minutes leader at131....Goaltender Marco Emond posted a record of 25-15-3 with a 2.89 goals against average.....Rookie twine tender Brad Phillips went12-7-5 with a 2.38 goals against average.....Before Sunday's season finale, Coach Jason Christie made three roster moves. He released defenseman A.J. Bozoian and activated defenseman Keith Rodger and forward Brodie Sheahan from injured reserve bringing the active roster back-up to nineteen.
