PrairieThunder loses to Flint

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Flint Generals scored every way possible Tuesday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum to earn a 4-1 United Hockey League victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before 3,499 people.

The Generals, who moved their record to 13-17-2 for 28 points, scored off a power play, a short-handed goal, an empty net goal and a full strength goal to send the PrairieThunder to its sixth straight loss. Bloomington is 8-19-2 with 18 points.

Jeff Zehr put the Generals ahead, 1-0, on a power play goal 3:11 into the game. He was assisted by Terry Marchant and Tyson Turgeon.

The PrairieThunder knotted the score at 1-1 on a B.J. Gaustad goal off assists from Andre Niec and Alex Goupil with 2:40 remaining in the first period.

The teams skated to a standoff in the second period until Marchant scored with 37 seconds remaining in the period when the puck popped out of goalie Jeff Reynaert's glove and into the net. Sean Kotary and Bobby Reynolds had assists on the full-strength goal.

The Generals put the game away in the third period with two goals. The first came from Dave Frawley on a short-handed situation with an assist from Jordan Fox. The other goal came on an empty net situation by Reynolds. Marchant and Dion Hyman had the assists.

The PrairieThunder outshot the Generals, 36-33, with Flint goalie Jason Muzzatti earning the victory.

The PrairieThunder returns to action Friday against Eastern Conference rival Fort Wayne at 7:05 p.m. at U.S, Cellular Coliseum.
