Quad City Mallards News Release

Moline, IL-The United Hockey League announced today that Mallards forward Don Parsons has been named the Sher-Wood United Hockey League Player of the Week for the period of December 18th through 24th. Parsons recorded seven points (five goals and two assists) in three Mallards games last week.

Parsons kicked off last week with a four-goal performance vs. the Bloomington PrairieThunder on December 20th at The MARK. The first goal of the night was the 602nd of Parsons' pro career, good for first on the all-time goal scoring list in minor pro hockey amongst American-born players. Parsons netted his second goal of the night with 40 seconds in the first period before scoring power-play goals in the second and third periods. The Boston native's heroics sparked a 7-1 Quad City win over the PrairieThunder.

On Friday night vs. Flint, Parsons scored in the second period to spark a run of four unanswered Quad City goals. The tally was his UHL-leading 14th power-play goal of the year. Parsons also assisted on a Chad Woollard goal early in the third period as Quad City cruised to a 7-2 win over Flint. Parsons capped his week with an assist on Saturday in the Mallards 3-2 loss to Fort Wayne.

Parsons' outstanding week moved him into a tie with Quad City's Chad Woollard for sixth in UHL scoring with 31 points. On the season, Parsons is second in UHL goal scoring with 21 markers.

The Mallards are home tonight to take on Chicago in the final contest of a four game home stand. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at The MARK box office, via phone at (563) 326-1111 or on-line at ticketmaster.com. After the game, join the Mallards at Portabella's in downtown Moline for a post-game party with players.
