
PrairieThunder Drop 5-2 Decision to Fort Wayne

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Fort Wayne scored two goals in the third period to assure itself a 5-2 victory over Bloomington before 3,374 people Sunday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in International Hockey League action.
The loss dropped Bloomington's record to 21-20-2-5 and 49 points, while Fort Wayne improved to 29-15-0-2 (60 points). The PrairieThunder returns to action Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. test at Fort Wayne
Fort Wayne jumped to a 3-0 advantage in the first two periods as Kaliegh Schrock, Brad MacMillan and Colin Chaulk scored goals. Schrock's goal came with 5:57 remaining in the first period on assists by P.C. Drouin and Frankie DeAngelis.
MacMillan added the Komets' second goal with 2:06 left in the first period on an assist by Justin Chwedoruk. Fort Wayne's third goal came from Chaulk came on assists by Matt Syroczynski and Chwedoruk on a power play 2:33 into the second period.
The PrairieThunder cut the deficit to 3-2 with a pair of short-handed goals in the second period by Zac Pearson and Billy Bagron. Matt Frick had the assist on Pearson's goal at the 13:07 mark. Matthew Spiller and Matt McIlvane were credited with assists on Bagron's goal midway through the period.
Fort Wayne put the game away in the third on goals by Syroczynski 20 seconds into the period off an assist by Kevin Bertram. Guy DuPuis scored the final goal four minutes later on assists by Sean O'Connor and Drouin.
Tim Haun was the winning goalie, stopping 35 of 37 shots, while Kevin Armstrtong suffered the loss for Bloomington with 35 stops on 40 shots. The PrairieThunder was shut out on eight power play attempts, while Fort Wayne was 1 for 6.
