Dayton Gems Shoot Down The Quad City Mallards 4 - 2

The Dayton Gems met the Quad City Mallards at Hara Arena for Valentine's Day. The Gems wasted no time putting the 1stgoal in before 5 minutes. It was rookie Mike Vaskivuo who put it between the pipes with the help of Jon Ornelas and Corey Couturier. The Gems would hold the Mallards scoreless throughout the rest of the period. During the 2ndperiod on a Gems power play John Snowden would score to give the Gems a 2-0 lead at the halfway mark with assists from newcomer Russ Smith and captain Greg Labenski. The Mallards would get on the board 1:10 later. With 5 seconds left in the 2ndSmith would score on another power play aided by Labenski and Snowden. Quad City would find the net less than 3 minutes into the 3rd. The Gems would hold their own and shorthanded Snowden would find an empty net with only 12 seconds left in the game assisted by Matt Szypura. Final score Gems 4 - Mallards 2. Gems standings are now 20 - 26 - 3 - 1.

The Gems are on the road this Friday heading to Flint for a 730pm face off. Fans can listen live to the B2 network via the Gems website: www.daytongems.com

Saturday, February 20th at Hara Arena as the Gems take on the Fort Wayne Komets at 730pm Dayton Spiritual Television will be hosting the evening sponsored by DATV (Time Warner Local Cable Access Station). Faith groups are encouraged to attend and group seating is available. Dayton Spiritual TV will be in the lobby handing out information and signing people up for prize drawings.

That evening is also the Gems Kettering Community Night. The Gems welcome friends, families, businesses and local groups from Kettering to support theircommunity. Group seating is available. Kettering, Fairmont and Alter schools are encouraged to participate.

All adult tickets only $10. Student and Children tickets $7. Groups are welcome and parking is free.

Each Monday evening join the GemsatFox and Hound in Beavercreekat 9pm as they become Miami Valley Idoljudges.

This Thursday have lunch with the players at Brixx downtown. See you at noon!
