PrairieThunder Acquire Two Defensemen from Odessa Jackalopes

The Bloomington PrairieThunder completed a three-player trade today in which Bloomington has acquired defensemen Pierre-Olivier Beaulieu and David Brown in exchange for the rights to defenseman Justin Sawyer.
Pierre-Olivier Beaulieu and David Brown were both in their first season with the Jackalopes after signing over the summer. Beaulieu, 26, is a 6-4, 215 pound blueliner who amassed five points in 17 games in Odessa. The former 8 th round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings (2002 NHL Entry Draft) is a native of Quebec City in Canada and played three seasons with Fresno (ECHL) and the 2008-09 season in Germany with Crimmitschau ETC.
Brown, also 26, is a first-year pro who appeared in 14 games with the Jackalopes adding one assist and a +5 rating. Before signing in Odessa, the Houston, British Columbia native played five years of college hockey at the University of Manitoba. Brown is 6-0, 200 pounds.
Justin Sawyer had not played this season in Bloomington. He started this season in Europe where he played eleven games for the Cardiff Devils of the EIHL (Elite Ice Hockey League) in the United Kingdom. Sawyer played last year in Bloomington where he appeared in 76 games scoring 13 points (4 goals & 9 assists). Sawyer has previous CHL experience having played for the Oklahoma City Blazers for two seasons (2007-08 & 2008-09).
Based on travel, the availability of both Pierre-Olivier Beaulieu and David Brown for this weekend's games in Fort Wayne and Evansville is TBA at the time of this release.
