EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips extended their win streak to eight games with a decisive 6-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets on Sunday evening, powered by four powerplay goals.

Ryan Hofer opened the scoring at 8:41 in the first period, wiring a wrist shot past Rockets netminder Talyn Boyko on the powerplay. The Tips would produce a second powerplay goal in the frame, as a long shot by Olen Zellweger found the back of the net for his ninth tally of the season.

Ben Hemmerling picked up his sixth goal of the season 2:13 into the second period, deflecting a Dexter Whittle shot from the blueline. A 5-on-3 powerplay for Kelowna would begin to turn the tides of momentum, as Mark Liwiski lifted a backhander home to get the Rockets on the board. Two minutes later, Jake Lee would pot his twelfth goal of the season to cut the deficit to just one.

With the Silvertips back on the powerplay, Niko Huuhtanen rifled a one-timer that ricocheted off the pads of Boyko and the legs of Everett forward Jacob Wright for Wright's 17th of the year. Hofer would tack on his second goal of the game later in the period, with helpers from Huuhtanen and Hemmerling.

Jackson Berezowski potted his 31st of the year in the third period, redirecting a Ryan Hofer pass to the backdoor. The Silvertips finished 4-for-6 on the man advantage in the contest.

Braden Holt stopped 30 of 32 for his 20th win of the year. Everett is the first team in the CHL to reach 70 points, improving to 33-7-4.

The Silvertips travel to Kelowna on Friday for a rematch with the Rockets at 7:05 p.m. They return home Saturday to square off with the Kamloops Blazers.
