Powerplay goals lifts Sioux City to 6-3 win

KEARNEY - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey league gave up four powerplay goals and dropped game five of the best of seven game Clark Cup Playoffs to the Sioux City Musketeers 6-3 Thursday night at the FirsTier Event Center in Kearney. The Musketeers lead the series 3-2 with game six Saturday night at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City.
Sioux City jumped out to a 3-0 lead by 49 seconds into the second period on three straight powerplay goals by Kevin Lohry, Blake Martin and Max Pacioretty. The Storm would battle back, scoring two goals in 2:05, including a short-hander by Brett Wysopal and goal by Storm captain Mario Lamoureux.
The Musketters Justin Gazley made it 4-2 a little over four minutes later, and that score would stand through the end of the second period.
The Storm's Jesse Martin scored am impressive goal 1:35 into the final period to put the Storm within one, 4-3. Pacioretty scored his second powerplay goal of the night at 14:15, putting the Muskies back up by two, 5-3. An emptynet with 46 seconds remaining by Blake Martin closed out the scoring.
The Storm again outshot Sioux City, 41-32.
Game six will be Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City. Game seven, if necessary, will be Monday night at 7:05 p.m. at the FirsTier Event Center.
