RoughRiders to Battle Waterloo, Indiana in Round Two

Cedar Rapids, Iowa- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will begin play in the round robin second round of the United States Hockey League's Clark Cup playoffs next Friday night at 7:05 against the Indiana Ice at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The Riders will play their second and final game of the East Division round robin one night later against the arch rival Black Hawks in Waterloo.
The top two teams from the East Division round robin will advance- along with the two survivors of the West Division round robin- to the USHL's final four. The team with the better regular season record wins any second round tie breakers.
The final four will be played the weekend of May 11 at the home of the top seeded semi-finalist and will feature a pair of single game semi-finals followed by a single game final.
The Riders earned a second round berth by sweeping the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets in four games in round one. The Ice swept the Green Bay Gamblers in the opening round while the Black Hawks became the final team to claim a spot in the East Division round robin by completing a five-game first round conquest of the Chicago Steel with a 5-4 victory last night in Waterloo.
The Riders will have been idle for 12 days by the time they play their first second round game. The round robin will begin next Wednesday with the Black Hawks taking on the Ice in Indianapolis.
The Riders' second round game against the Hawks will be a rematch of the April 14 regular season finale between the two teams. Waterloo won that game 3-2 to edge Cedar Rapids for both the Anderson Cup (USHL regular season title) and the East Division crown.
Tickets for next Friday's game can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Playoff ticket prices range from $8 to $18 including a 50-cent facility fee.
