Lexington, KY (April 20, 2009) - The West Virginia Power fell 3-0 in the first game of Monday night's double header against the Lexington Legends, but saw their scoreless innings streak come to an end at 26 as they took the second half of the double dip with a 6-3 victory in game two at Applebee's Park.

The Power left seven men on base in the first contest and left the bases loaded in the first inning. The Legends plated a pair of runs to snap a scoreless tie in the third inning. Albert Cartwright singled and moved to second as Duke Welker's errant throw on a pick-off attempt rolled into foul territory. He eventually scored on a wild pitch. Ricardo Bonfante singled later in the inning and scored on Jay Austin's groundout. Cartwright stuck again in the fifth on a double and got to third on the play as Quincy Latimore had trouble picking the ball off the turf. Later in the inning, with runners at the corners, the Legends executed a double steal, bringing Cartwright home.

West Virginia had been held without a run for 26 straight innings until Chase D'Arnaud hit a two-run homer in the top of the third inning of game two to give the Power a 2-0 lead. Robbie Grossman ripped a two-out RBI single in the fourth inning to give the Power a 3-0 lead but the Legends tied the game just a half inning later on Federico Hernandez's three-run homer. The Power answered with a three-run fifth inning to take the lead for good. Bobby Spain drove in Andrew Walker with a double and Greg Picart plated two more runs on a base hit.

In game one Kyle Greenwalt (1-1) tossed six scoreless innings of three hit ball to earn the victory while Daniel Meszaros (4) tossed a scoreless inning to earn the save. Duke Welker (0-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs, two earned on four hits over five innings. In game two Kyle McPherson (1-0) tossed three scoreless innings of two hit ball in his Power debut to secure the victory while Jose Trinidad (0-2) allowed four runs on three hits over two innings and was tagged with the loss.

West Virginia's record sits at 3-9 after the split and the Legends are 7-5 after the split. Andrew Walker reached four times in the second game, going 2-for-2 with a double. Bobby Spain had four hits in the double dip while Greg Picart hit safely twice in the second contest as well. West Virginia had 11 hits in the second game, tying their season high.

The Power will begin a four game series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Bowling Green Ballpark on Tuesday night. The Hot Rods will start left hander Matt Moore (1-0, 2.25) and the Power will counter with left hander Rudy Owens (0-0, 2.25). The first pitch in game one is scheduled for 7:35 PM.
