WOODBRIDGE, VA - Potomac scored two early runs and held on to beat the Dash 2-1 on Friday night to win the Mills Cup Championship. Nationals right fielder Bill Rhinehart was named the MVP of the series, the second league title for Potomac in the last three seasons.

The Nationals scored in the first inning when Nate Jones walked Francisco Soriano, who got to third on a pair of fielder's choices. He scored on a bloop single down the left field line by Tyler Moore to make it 1-0 Potomac.

The P-Nats struck again in the fourth inning. Soriano tripled down the right field line and scored on a groundout by Rhinehart.

The Dash scored its only run by virtue of an error in the fourth inning. Jon Gilmore reached second base on a throwing error by the starter Marcos Frias. Seth Loman drove him in with a single to left to cut the deficit to one run.

Unfortunately for Winston-Salem, the team could only manage one more hit in the ballgame, a leadoff single in the fifth inning. The combination of Frias, Joe Testa, and Zach Dials kept the Dash off-balance and off the scoreboard.

Dials pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning, with Ozzie Lewis grounding out to the shortstop to end the game and the season. After Jose Lozada's throw to first settled into Moore's mitt, the P-Nats rushed the center of the infield for a massive dog pile to celebrate the league championship.

Frias (2-0) was the winner with five innings of solid ball. Jones (0-1) took the loss, allowing two runs in six innings.

The Dash will next take the field on March 31, 2011 when the Chicago White Sox will play an exhibition game at BB&T Ballpark against the Dash.
