KALAMAZOO - The Frontier League announced their post season awards and the Kalamazoo Kings were the most decorated team.
Field Manager Fran Riordan won the Rogers Hanners Manager of the Year Award and Pitching Coach Joe Thomas was named Assistant Coach of the Year.
Designated Hitter Brendan Murphy won the Jason Simontacchi Rookie of the Year Award after finishing the year third in the league in hitting with a .335 average and placing in the top 5 in the league in RBI with 77. Closer Brandon Parillo was named the relief pitcher of the year after leading the league in saves with 19 and posting a 3.03 ERA.
The Kalamazoo Kings will have home field advantage for their first round series of the Frontier League Playoffs. Game One is Friday September 5th with a 7:05 PM start time. Game Two will be Saturday September 6th, again starting at 7:05 PM. Tickets are now on sale at the Kings Office and cost $5.00. There will be $1 pop and $1 beer specials for all home playoff games.
