New York Red Bulls News Release
The New York Red Bulls (10-8-4, 34 pts) capped off a three-match week with a 1-0 road win against Orlando City SC on Sunday night. A first-half goal from Brian White proved enough to give New York three points at Exploria Stadium in Orlando.
New York finishes a stretch of three matches in eight days with six out of nine possible points. The Red Bulls beat rival NYCFC at home last Sunday before falling at Toronto on Wednesday night.
New York ends the weekend in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, just five points behind conference-leaders Philadelphia.
White's game-winner came in the 32nd minute. The play started with defender Amro Tarek forcing a turnover and finding Kaku, who curled a ball behind the Orlando defense and into the path of White. The goal was White's team-leading seventh of the season.
Kaku now has four assists on the season.
New York Red Bulls captain Luis Robles made four saves for his fifth shutout of the season, and 68th of his MLS career.
Centerback Aaron Long was deployed as an outside back, playing on the left side and sharing duties with Amro Tarek with Kemar Lawrence missing due to rest.
Alex Muyl, along with Lawrence, did not travel to Orlando after playing a full 90 minutes last Sunday, and Wednesday night.
New York is now 3-5-3 on the road in 2019.
The Red Bulls' 37 goals scored this season is the fourth-most in MLS, behind only LAFC, Philadelphia and Minnesota. New York also has the sixth-best goal differential in MLS at +6.
New York is now 51-42-23 all-time in the month of July with 189 goals scored and 177 goals against.
Chris Armas is now 22-11-7 as head coach. Armas took over on July 8, 2018.
New York returns home next Saturday, June 27, to host Columbus Crew SC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG Networks and Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish.
