
Ports to Host Japanese Heritage Night

STOCKTON, Calif.-The Stockton Ports will host their 2011 Japanese Heritage Night on Sunday, August 7 at 6:05 p.m. at Banner Island Ballpark during their game against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. The evening will be a celebration of the Japanese culture and baseball heritage in the Stockton/San Joaquin area.
A pregame ceremony will recognize the Japanese Vice Consul General, several members of local Japanese Baseball Players, including former Port, Fibber Hiriyama, and several Japanese Exchange students. In addition, throughout the evening, several prominent Japanese groups will perform before and in between innings. Among the groups slated to perform is the Stockton Bukkyo Taiko group, New School Aikido, Minyo Tanoshimi Kai.
"We are very excited to host Japanese Heritage Night at the ballpark this year," said Ports Marketing Director, Jeremy Neisser. "There is a strong history of Japanese-American baseball heritage in the San Joaquin area, and we look forward to celebrating it on August 7!" Tickets cost just $7 for field box seats, and must be purchased no later than August 6, 2011.
