Stockton Ports News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Ports are pleased to announce that they will be hosting their Community Fund Weekend from Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9, as the Ports take on the Inland Empire 66ers in a three-game series. All proceeds of the event benefit the Anchor Fund, the Ports community fund, which supports charitable endeavors in Stockton and San Joaquin County that are focused on aiding children.
Fans will be able to participate in a new fundraiser each day of the Community Fund Weekend. On Friday, August 7, fans can participate in a Memorabilia Raffle. Tickets cost just $5, and fans can win great Ports items such as game-used equipment, autographed memorabilia and much more.
On Saturday, August 8, the Ports will host an Autographed Baseball Surprise sale event. Fans can purchase a baseball for just $20, and each ball is guaranteed to have a signature, either of a Ports player or a current or former Major League Baseball player. Each baseball will be wrapped in tissue paper. "Lucky balls" will be randomly included in the Autographed Baseball Surprise sale, and fans who purchase a "Lucky ball" can go on the field post-game to meet that Ports player.
On Sunday, August 9, fans can participate in a silent auction for Lunch with a Port. Bidding begins at $50, and winning bidders get to eat lunch alongside a Ports player prior to the Sunday, August 23 game. The game on August 23 starts at 6:05 p.m.
"We are thrilled to host three exciting fundraisers at our Community Fund Weekend, and we're sure our fans will enjoy all of the great things we've included in the Memorabilia Raffle and Autographed Baseball Surprise, as well as the chance to eat with a Ports player," said Ports Community Relations Manager Danielle Alt. "We have had plenty of success with our Anchor Fund events this season, and thanks to the generosity of our fans, the Ports have generated close to $25,000 this year for the Anchor Fund so far. We hope to raise even more funds during this Community Fund Weekend to help support local youth centers and youth sports."
In 2008, the Ports donated approximately $16,000 and nearly $43,500 of in-kind donations, including 8,600 tickets to local non-profit organizations, charities and schools through the Anchor Fund.
