Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks won a series from the High Desert Mavericks for the first time in 2009 season, and they could not have done it in more impressive fashion. Lancaster got a fantastic outing from last-minute starter Shane Wolf and an avalanche of runs from its offense and sent the Mavericks home with a 9-0 defeat.

Wolf was called upon to start in place of the injured Bryan Hallberg, and the left hander dazzled. Shane tied a career high with nine strikeouts over six innings. He picked up his third win of the season, allowing just four hits and walking one.

Lancaster poured on the offense early in support of Wolf. In the second inning, Matt Weston singled to right field and was doubled home by Brandon Barnes. Marcos Cabral and Jordan Comadena walked to load the bases before Craig Corrado drove home Barnes with a sacrifice fly to left. Ebert Rosario then singled to left to stake the JetHawks to a 3-0 lead. Comadena had a career-high three hits on the night and caught his second shutout of the season.

They were back at it in the third. Koby Clemens led off the frame with a double to right field, Weston reached on an error and Barnes again doubled in a run. Barnes and Weston came in to score when Cabral singled to left.

In the fourth, Weston hit a two-run homer and the game was well in hand. Weston now has 11 big flies and has driven in 47 runs. They tacked on their final run in the eighth when Koby Clemens hit yet another home run, his 13th.

The JetHawks hit the road for three at Inland Empire starting tomorrow night at 7:05PM. The radio broadcast can be heard on Magic 1340 AM and online at www.JetHawks.com beginning at 6:50. They will return to the Hangar on Tuesday August 4th for a six game homestand.
