Ports Shutout Quakes

Stockton Ports News Release


The Stockton Ports shutout the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to open the series against the southern division rival. The Ports have now beat southern division teams 11 games in a row, dating back to June 13th when they faced the High Desert Mavericks.

Murphy Smith earned the win for the Ports, pitching 6.0 shutout innings, giving up just three hits and striking out six. AJ Huttenlocker came in at the start of the seventh and pitched 2.0 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit and striking out two. Ports closer, Jose Guzman, came in and pitched a scoreless ninth, walking two, giving up one hit and striking out two in the process.

Offensively, the Ports saw the return of Michael Choice to their lineup. Choice went 0-for-3 with a walk to extend his on-base streak to 45 games. Anthony Aliotti went 3-for-4 with an RBI to extend his on-base streak to 33. Conner Crumbliss also had a strong night, going 1-for-1 with three walks.

The Ports look to extend their win streak against the south division to twelve on Monday night as RHP James Simmons faces off against the Quakes righty Red Patterson at 7:05 p.m.
