Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers fell to the Stockton Ports for the second consecutive night as Stockton downed the Sixers 3-2 at San Manuel Stadium on Wednesday. For the second consecutive night the Sixers were held to just four hits, all singles and for the second straight night half of those were infield hits.

Stockton got on the board with a run in the second when with two outs Mikey White, Justin Higley and Seth Brown each singled to give the Ports the lead. Stockton (53-76, 26-33) made it 2-0 when Jose Brizuela hit a solo homer to right off Sixers starter Justin Anderson. It was Brizuela's 15th homer of the year.

Ports starter Kyle Friedrichs did not allow a baserunner until the fifth inning. The Sixers did get to him in the seventh however as Tyalor Ward walked and Michael Strentz reached on an infield single. Both runners advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. With two down in the frame Roberto Baldoquin drilled a 3-2 pitch to left-center to tie the game 2-2. The runs ended a 15-inning scoreless drought in the series for Inland Empire (45-84, 22-37).

The Ports answered right back in the top of the eighth against Sixers' reliever Ronnie Muck (0-2) as Chris Iriart doubled with one out and with two down he came home on Higley's opposite field double to left to make it 3-2. Jared Lyons tossed 1.1 perfect innings in his Cal League debut for Stockton to earn the win. Cody Stull had a perfect ninth for the second straight game to earn his sixth save. Michael Strentz had two hits in the loss for Inland Empire.

The series continues Thursday at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com and 1570 AM KPRO.
