August 25, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers announced on Thursday that the Sixers will remain the Advanced-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels and 66ers agreed on a new Player Development Contract (PDC) for a standard two-year duration which will run through the 2018 California League season. The 66ers have been an affiliate of the Angels since 2011 and won the 2013 California League title under the umbrella of the Angels' player development department. The 2011 ball club that ushered in Angels' baseball as part of the 66ers' franchise history featured current Angels' star right fielder Kole Calhoun. Former 66ers such as Calhoun, Kaleb Cowart, Jett Bandy, Michael Morin and Cam Bedrosian have been just some of the names that have made San Manuel Stadium a crucial stop on their way to Angel Stadium in Anaheim. "The Los Angeles Angels and the Inland Empire 66ers have developed a strong relationship that we are excited to build on over the coming years,"Â Los Angeles Angels General Manager Billy Eppler said. "The San Bernardino community and the 66ers front office show incredible support for our players at an important step in their development. According to Inland Empire 66ers General Manager Joe Hudson there are a multitude of reasons that make this partnership so successful. Topping the list of those factors is the San Manuel Stadium facility and proximity to the parent club. "We couldn't be prouder to continue working with a top-class organization like the Angels,"Â Hudson said. "Our front doors are less than 50 miles from each other and that gives the big club a nearby base for player evaluation and assignments. Furthermore, San Manuel Stadium has a top notch playing surface, clubhouse facility and fan base that makes this a great place for our partnership with the Angels. We very much appreciate our relationship." For more information regarding the 66ers please call 909-888-9922. You can also visit 66ers.com and losangeles.angels.mlb.com to learn more about the clubs.
