Portland's Winning Streak Snapped in 2-1 Loss

Bridgewater Township, New Jersey - The Portland Sea Dogs (74-62, 44-23) saw their eight-game win streak snapped, falling on the losing end of a pitcher's duel, 2-1 to the Somerset Patriots (82-52, 38-27) on Friday at TD Bank Ballpark.

With the first three innings held scoreless for both teams, the Patriots brought in the first run in the bottom of the fourth inning against Sea Dogs starter Sterling Sharp. Jeisson Rosario lined a one-out, solo home run over the wall in right. It was his 11th long ball of the season and gave Somerset a 1-0 lead.

The offense for Portland scored their first run in the top of the sixth against major league rehabber Miguel Castro. David Hamilton led off the inning, reaching on an infield single. Stephen Scott walked, and one out later, Izzy Wilson drove in Hamilton with a double to right to tie the game 1-1.

Somerset was able to regain the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning against Portland reliever Brendan Nail. Jasson Dominguez led off the inning with a triple. Austin Wells grounded a ball into right for a base hit, scoring Dominguez to take a 2-1 lead. The Somerset bullpen closed out the ninth inning, snapping Portland's eight-game win streak with a 2-1 final score.

Tanner Myatt (4-2, 4.08 ERA) tossed 2.0 perfect innings with one strikeout in his fourth win of the season. Brendan Nail (3-2, 3.76 ERA) worked through one inning, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one in the loss.

The Sea Dogs and Patriots play the penultimate game of the series on Saturday with a 6:35 PM first pitch. Portland starter is to be determined and will face Somerset RHP Will Warren (7-5, 3.86 ERA).
