Portland Winterhawks News Release
Hawks Happenings On The Ice:
The WHL has nominated Mac Carruth for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. Carruth posted a 2-0-0-0 record this past week with one shutout, stopping 52 of 54 shots faced for a 0.963 save-percentage and 1.00 goals-against average. Carruth returned to the Winterhawks during their WHL East Division road swing and led the club to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Saskatoon Blades and a 5-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders.
The Winterhawks are back at home after their road trip through the East Division that saw them go 4-1-1, as they picked up nine of a possible 12 points. After six games in nine days on the trip, the Hawks now enter a stretch with just one game in the next 13 days. They host Seattle Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the Rose Garden, then are off until Sunday the 28th, when they play their first game on the new ice rink inside Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Ty Rattie finished the road trip in style with four goals and an assist in Saturday's 6-3 win in Swift Current. Rattie has points in five straight games, totaling 11 points in that span (seven goals, four assists).
Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:
Saturday's game against Seattle is "Pink the Rink", with the teams playing on pink ice to promote breast cancer awareness. In addition, proceeds from Chuck-a-Puck, jersey auctions, pink merchandise sales and other activities will be donated to support cancer research.
Several Winterhawks players will be making an appearance at the Les Schwab location at 1210 NW 19th Ave. downtown in the Pearl District on Wednesday from 4:30 - 6 p.m.
